HELEN IN THE SPOTLIGHT

I was fortunate to be born in a sleepy little town in a time when people didn't bother to lock
their doors. A time and place where crime was unheard of, allowing for total freedom to play and
investigate without fear or restriction.

My mother was an extraordinarily gifted woman with a voice as sweet and pure as a nightingale,
and the creative soul of a poet.

My father was the "Rock of Gibraltar" and the most honest man I have ever known. From my parents I
learned to have an enormous appreciation of nature, an excitement for learning, and a love
of music and art.

I was and still am extremely blessed to have 3 unique and wonderfulsisters and a very special brother.
At the age of 22 I joined the Peace Corps which changed me forever and was the beginning of a new
chapter of this wonderful adventure that is my life.

Shortly after arriving in Morocco I met a very special, absolutely charming young man and the rest
is history. We came back to the good old US of A and worked hard, played hard, and had 2
wonderful children.

Monique and Ary have been the center of our world and enriched our lives more than words could
ever say. For them, I am grateful every day.

After graduating from UCSD and working in the world of science, Monique married
Michael, who enriches even more our wonderful life. They have 3 beautiful
children: Noah, born May 17, 1998...Natalie, born July 1, 2000...Arielle, born Aug. 17, 2005.

After graduating from U of A and beginning his career as an engineer, Ary married
Christie, who adds so much to our already incredible life. They have 2 wonderful
children: Aiden, born Aug. 14, 2003...Rachel, born Nov. 29, 2005.

Our grandchildren are the lights of our life and bring us so much sunshine and laughter.

We are so very proud of our children for all of their accomplishments, past and present.
And for the way in which they conduct their lives.
We are also very proud of Michael and Christie and feel fortunate to have them in our lives.

Every day I am grateful for this life I have and the people in it
without whom my life would be but an empty shell.
